The purpose of this study was to conduct a content analysis to determine whether the evening newspapers Aftonbladet and Expressen depict a specific subject in the same or different ways and to what extent. The specific subject in this study is the murder of Wilma Andersson, which has received a lot of attention in Sweden in recent years. I conducted a qualitative investigation in which I examined five newspaper articles from Aftonbladet and five newspaper articles from Expressen from the time the murder occurred on November 14th, 2019, until April 2021. My task was to ask three predetermined questions about each text to find out what I wanted to know. My research questions were ”How is the act depicted in Expressen and Aftonbladet?”, ”How is the victim depicted in Aftonbladet and Expressen?”, and ”How is the relationship between Wilma Andersson and the murderer Tishko Ahmed depicted in Aftonbladet and Expressen?”. The result showed that the newspapers were similar to each other to a large extent. My conclusion showed that the contrast between the newspapers was how much information they included in each newspaper article, as one of the newspapers included more information. The conclusion also showed that femicide is reported, but questions about why the violence occurs and how it can be prevented are often lacking.
